This is Animal Planet at its best, folks.
Kudos to the man who stopped his truck to intervene. That definitely takes balls, given that all pavement apes carry guns and aren’t afraid to use them.
A tourist that is staying at a Airbnb in the area had just left CVS pharmacy at Gardner and Melrose and began to walk back to his rental as four suspects slowly and calculatedly followed him northbound on the 700 block of Gardner St. In the video you can see the suspects almost hunting the victim as he made his way along Gardner to Waring, as he turned west bound. Then, in front of 7462 Waring Avenue, the four suspects converged on the victim and viciously attacked him on the sidewalk demanding his valuables.
The four suspects wearing “hoodies” attacked the man, striking him in the face and upper body several times knocking him to the ground and grabbing his valuables. One witness shown in the video driving a grey pick up truck jumped out and saw what was happening and went back to his truck to call 911. A DHL delivery truck’s driver also stopped and then followed two suspects that began to flee the scene running east on Waring. The guy in the truck tried to catch one or two of the suspects that split up running westbound on Waring but the suspects got away. All four suspects were African American males in their late teens or early twenties, all appeared to have thin builds and were about 6 ft tall. All wore hoodies to disguise their faces as seen in the video above.
