The historic Notre Dame Church in Paris is burning.
The structure of the Notre Dame Cathedral has been saved from a massive fire that had threatened to gut the 800-year-old beloved landmark, fire officials said late Monday.
“The worst has been avoided, although the battle is not yet totally won,” said French President Emmanuel Macron, who had rushed to the scene. Macron pledged to rebuild the church and said a national fundraising campaign would be launched Tuesday.
The blaze collapsed the cathedral’s spire and spread to one of its rectangular towers. But Paris Fire Chief Jean-Claude Gallet said the church’s main structure had been saved after firefighters prevented the flames from spreading to the northern belfry. Gallet said the emergency response had evolved into a monitoring and clean-up operation.
The damage, however, was extensive. “Two-thirds of the roofing has been ravaged,” and firefighters would work through the night to cool down the building, Gallet said.

Neil Patrick Cavuto and Shepard Smith work for Fox News – and the supposedly pro-Christian, pro-Conservative network won’t entertain any “conspiracy theories” speculating about who could be behind attacks on churches.
And, naturally, the openly liberal media won’t speculate on the most obvious suspect in this attack.
Suggesting that Moslems might be to blame for burning down Notre Dame is far from far-fetched when you consider the wave of Church attacks that have been happening all over France.
Last month, Newsweek reported:
France has seen a spate of attacks against Catholic churches since the start of the year, vandalism that has included arson and desecration.
Vandals have smashed statues, knocked down tabernacles, scattered or destroyed the Eucharist and torn down crosses, sparking fears of a rise in anti-Catholic sentiment in the country.
Last Sunday, the historic Church of St. Sulpice in Paris was set on fire just after midday mass on Sunday, Le Parisien reported, although no one was injured. Police are still investigating the attack, which firefighters have confidently attributed to arson.
Fox News is just Neocon news. This has always been known. But have they dropped the whole Christian angle now too?
More generally, this seems to be the new MO. The media is just going to cover up terrorist attacks or pretend that they’re arson attacks. They will do this in the name of their new-found objectivity – “we can’t give into conspiracy theories and White Nationalism” followed by *le stern journalist man of integrity face*.
Now, Cavuto does an OK stern/reassuring face.
I think he comes off as more pouting than stern and reassuring. But he blows Shep Smith out of the water.
Shep Smith can’t look stern and reassuring for the life of him.
He looks evil and gay, no matter what he does. Because he literally is gay and evil.
I can’t believe people (read Boomers) watch this garbage.
Covering for Moslems is a huge no-no though. You can cover for the Jews – this has been proven – but you can’t whitewash Moslem crime. People naturally despise Moslems. Furthermore, they have been conditioned to hate Moslems, in no small part by Fox News during the Bush years when they needed to invade the Middle East. You can’t flip the switch on them like this.
If Fox starts shilling for the Moslems now, they’re absolutely done.
