France: If Macron Doesn’t Make Second Round, Le Pen will Win

So here’s a weird thing: French elections.

Macron is leading in general opinion polls, but Fillon is leading among people who are sure to vote. I have no idea why, because I don’t read French and so don’t really understand the intricacies of their internal political situation. If I had to guess, I would guess that Fillon’s base is older people, who aren’t aware of all his recent scandals, but are sure to vote because old people always vote since they don’t have anything else to do on any given afternoon and it gives them an excuse to go outside.

Marine Le Pen has polled at 47% against Fillon, meaning she has a good chance of beating him in the second round if he makes it there instead of Macron.

For those who don’t know, there are two stages in French elections: first stage is all candidates, second is between the two candidates that got the most votes in the first round (unless someone gets a majority in the first round, which isn’t going to happen).

Le Pen is sure to win the first round, but the second round she is predicted to lose relatively badly against Macron.
