Gaming Addiction to be Declared Mental Disorder

We all know that feel, man.

Video games are a thing that unites practically everyone of my generation and younger. Even over the holidays, with my family, we can start up some old Nintendo games and reminisce about our childhood. And while in the 80s and 90s games were just a fun hobby, and something we did with friends or to pass time on a rainy day, games have become an increasingly important part of young people’s lives over the years.

This is largely because real life has become so overloaded with depressing crap degeneracy, while all goals that could motivate a man to action have been taken away from us. So the allure of accomplishing stuff in a virtual world has become much greater than before – all other forms of accomplishment are more or less out of reach.

Is it any surprise that young men are completely losing themselves in simulated universes where they can destroy their enemies, conquer foreign lands and acquire honor for their deeds when those things are impossible in the real world?

MSN:

Gaming disorder is soon to be classified as a mental health condition for the very first time, the New Scientist reports.

The International Classification of Diseases is a diagnostic manual that’s published by the World Health Organisation.

It was last updated 27 years ago, in 1990.

The eleventh edition of the manual is due to be published in 2018 and will include gaming disorder as a serious health condition to be monitored.

Why are young men spending thousands of hours building fake houses in Minecraft? Why not spend the same effort building a real house?

Because bureaucrats have decided that you can’t do that unless you respect the “building code.”

Reading thousands of pages of rules before laying the first brick isn’t exactly exciting.

Why are they playing Call of Duty instead of joining the military?

Right…

Why are they playing anime dating sims instead of dating real women?

2d waifus suddenly don’t seem so bad tbh fam.

The Jews have made our world into a hellscape so dire that escapism might be the only sane way to cope with it, short of going full 1488.

The wording of the gaming disorder hasn’t been revealed yet.

However, the draft outlines the criteria needed to determine whether someone can be classed as having a gaming disorder.

Vladimir Poznyak, a member of the WHO’s Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse, spoke about the importance of recognising gaming disorder as an important issue.

“Health professionals need to recognise that gaming disorder may have serious health consequences,” he said.

“Most people who play video games don’t have a disorder, just like most people who drink alcohol don’t have a disorder either. However, in certain circumstances overuse can lead to adverse effects.

Last year, researchers from the University of Oxford’s Internet Institute undertook a study to investigate the percentage of gamers who are addicted to video games.

The study, published in the American Journal of Psychiatry, found that only 2 to 3 per cent of the 19,000 men and women surveyed from the UK, the US, Canada and Germany admitted that they experienced five or more of the symptoms from the American Psychiatric Association checklist of health symptoms.

I’d bet men are way more likely to be addicted to video games than women. Unless they invented a new kind of video game involving finding a powerful, violent man to have babies with, and then scheming to keep other women away from him. That would be quite a hit with the ladies.

Women would love a game where they’d play as the blonde chick in this pic, doing her best to breed with the strongest barbarian they can find.

A few years ago, the APA created a list of nine standard symptoms that could determine “internet gaming disorder”. These symptoms include anxiety, withdrawal symptoms and antisocial behaviour.

If we want to get young men interested in life outside of video games, putting them on pills or addiction programs isn’t going to do the trick. What’s needed is a healthy alternative to vidya.

For example, forming right wing death squads.

We need far-sighted solutions for real-world health problems, and death-squad-ism may be the only avenue for progress.
