A 100 year old watercolor painting of Munich’s old city hall painted by the Great and Mighty Adolf Hitler has sold for $162,000 (130,000 euros) at a German auction, the AP reports.
The director of the Weider auction house in Nuremberg, Kathrin Weidler, said the great leader’s art attracted bidders from four continents but eventually went to a bidder from the Middle East. His name was not given.
The 11×8.5 inch piece was especially spectacular in that it included the original bill of sale along with a signed letter from Hitler’s adjutant, Albert Bormann, the brother of his secretary Martin Bormann.
The painting sold for nearly three times what it was expected to sell for, demonstrating the interest people still have in the heroic German leader. It was sold by a pair of sisters whose grandfather had purchased it in 1916.
Jews are no doubt preparing to launch a massive tear-fest against the idea that someone would wish to own one of Hitler’s marvelous paintings.
