Eric “the eel” Moussambani the legendary Black Olympic swimmer.

One of the things that “racist” White people say about Blacks is that they can’t swim.  I would like to say that this is a completely unfounded and mean spirited stereotype towards Black folk.

Since we are celebrating great moments in Black history this month, we would be remiss if we did not mention Eric “the eel” Moussambani the Equatorial Guinea swimming legend.

At the 2000 Olympic games in Sydney Australia, Moussambani inspired the entire world with a memorable performance in the 100 meter freestyle.  Moussambani showed the world that Black men can swim and that anyone who disagrees is a hate filled “racist.”  It could be argued that he alone is responsible for inspiring millions of young Africans to take up the sport of swimming.

Watch Moussambani’s unforgettable and now legendary performance below.
