When I was a kid, the media obsess over the idea that Halloween was “satanic.”

In 1993, I was 9-years-old, and the media was obsessed with the idea that Halloween may be satanism.

Because, you know, ghost stories and skeletons, or whatever. I guess it was based on a pagan holiday, but surprise guys, so was Christmas.

Anyone who’s around 30ish probably remembers these people trying to rain on your candy-and-costume parade with their bizarre moralizing.

Anyway, no need for more detail on that, because no one cares anymore.

Now, with the same absurdly intense fervor, Halloween is being accused of being racist.

This year, Walmart has been bullied into shutting down a “little amigo” costume.

You may remember last year (probably not) the same thing happened with Walmart’s “Pashtoon Papa” costume.

It is almost like the religious fervor of evangelical Christianity has been directly transformed into a religious fervor of Political Correctness, no?

It’s actually exactly like that.

You may remember (again, or not) that there was an entire PSA campaign a couple years ago – run by Ohio University from 2011-2013 – trying to shame people for their Halloween costumes.

It was literally called the “We’re a Culture, Not a Costume” campaign.

It had the catchphrase “this is not who I am and this is not okay.” They then changed the catchphrase to “You wear the costume for one night. I wear the stigma for LIFE.”

Not sure which is funnier.

I’m not for sure, but this may well have been the beginning of the “wait, are you trolling or is this for real?” phase of modern SJWism.
