NBC:
The Charlottesville Fire Department is investigating an explosion on the Downtown Mall.
The fire chief says there was no fire or smoke from the reported explosion near the Downtown Mall between 3rd street and Water street.
They are currently waiting on a report from Dominion Power.
But wait – there’s more.
CNN:
An explosion that went off in a garbage can Saturday morning in a New Jersey beach town likely was timed to disrupt a Marine Corps charity run, authorities said.
Three pipe-bomb-type devices wired together were found near the boardwalk in Seaside Park. No injuries were reported and a four-block area was evacuated for most of the day, authorities said.
An initial examination showed the devices were rudimentary, with some type of timer, and only one of them detonated, two federal law enforcement officials told CNN.

Police and firefighters are at the scene of a possible explosion in New York City.
The Fire Department says the blast was reported shortly before 9 p.m. Saturday on West 23rd Street in the Chelsea section of Manhattan.
No information about the extent of the damage was immediately available.

According to WPIX, preliminary reports point to at least 14 people with minor injuries.

Are these explosions related? It’s too early to say. But the timing seems too weird to assume a coincidence.

WDAZ:
Police officers have responded to Crossroads Mall in St. Cloud for multiple stabbing victims.
The police department says one suspect was taken into custody at Macy’s.
Investigators responded to the mall around 8:20 p.m. Saturday.
The number of possible victims is not known at this time.
Someone also stabbed multiple people in a mall. That also seems like an act of terrorism, rather than a burglary or some crime of passion.
Truly a day of happenings!

They’re saying the Virginia mall didn’t explode after all. The excuse seems far fetched, however, and it might very well be misinformation.
Make no mistake, terrorist attacks have obvious political implications. Democrats would have enormous incentive to cover them up.
We’ll need to wait more to reach a more conclusive understanding of the situation.
UPDATE 3:
ISIS has claimed responsibility for the mall stabbings.
Of course, ISIS always claims responsibility for everything, so this doesn’t mean anything.
But it does make it harder for the media to claim the stabbings weren’t terrorism-related.
