French investigators have found no traces of a Russian hacking group in the attack on President Emmanuel Macron’s election campaign, in which thousands of emails were leaked, the head of the French government’s cyber security agency told AP.
What does “Russian hacking” even mean?
Has someone explained this and I missed it?
In America, they said it was literally impossible to hack voting machines, unless you like, showed up with a laptop and plugged a USB into them one by one at voting stations.
They aren’t online.
Then the US said “Russia hacking the election” is a metaphor for things like Wikileaks or Alex Jones broadcasting pro-Trump media.
What did the French mean by this term?
I assume they also didn’t literally mean hacking into the election system and changing the vote count.
