A Bolivar man was found guilty on two counts of capital murder in Tippah County County Circuit Court Thursday, June 6.

Kedarius Hamer, of Bolivar, Tennessee, was found guilty in the July 6, 2017 deaths of Paul Joel Koster, 51, and Ayla Roxanne Hopper, 29, that occurred near Walnut.

Before the verdict was read, Judge Kelly Luther stated that the case was an emotional matter with serious consequences and asked the courtroom to refrain from emotional outbursts.

Judge Luther dismissed the jury and a sentencing hearing followed. Luther stated that in a capital murder case that there are only two sentencing options: the death penalty and life in prison without parole. Since the prosecution did not seek the death penalty, Hamer was sentenced to life in prison without parole with the Mississippi Department of Corrections.
