This week, Michelle, Barbute, and I tackle the rather large topic of the Crusades.
The Crusades themselves were Europes first supranational endeavor and the counterstroke against centuries of muslim aggression.
The events that transpired had a profound impact on both Western and Eastern civilization.
It reopened the Mediterranean to commerce and travel, reinvigorated literature with tales of heroism, romance, and philosophy. as well as reinforcing a connection between Western Christendom, feudalism and militarism.
Some of the things that took place back then continues to have an impact on our society even today.
NB! about Krak des Chevaliers, Barbute erroneously said it could hold 2000 horses, it could not. The capacity was a garrison of 2000 men and 200 horses.
