Investigators have made a second arrest in the murder of a man at a camp in Iberville Parish.
The Iberville Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested Darrell Georgetown Jr., 26, of Plaquemine, on Tuesday.
He is charged with accessory after the fact to first-degree murder and obstruction of justice in connection with the death of Kye Boudreaux, 26, of Plaquemine. Boudreaux was found shot to death on May 7 in what was described as a “horrendous scene.”
Detrell Scott, 22, of Plaquemine, was arrested the day of the murder and charged with first degree murder and armed robbery. Sheriff Brett Stassi said Georgetown is a relative of Scott. He added Scott and Boudreaux knew each other.
Stassi reported Boudreaux’s body was found at a camp off Grand River in Plaquemine. Detectives said Boudreaux was shot in the head.
Stassi reported Boudreaux’s empty boat was then found drifting in the bayou near Jack Miller Landing in Plaquemine by a tow boat around 5:30 a.m. Deputies said the motor was in neutral, so they initially thought they were investigating a possible drowning.
“We ran the numbers on the boat and it came up to Kye Boudreaux. So we started getting ready for a water search once daylight came,” said Stassi.
Just as deputies were getting ready to get in the water, a deputy found Boudreaux’s truck and trailer in a sugar cane field off Tenant Road in Plaquemine around 7:30 a.m. Stassi said someone tried to burn it, but was not successful.
While investigators were on the scene where the truck was found, the sheriff got a chilling call from Boudreaux’s parents, saying to come to their family camp in Grand River because they had just found their son shot to death.
