Austin police arrested at least four people at a haunted house near Highland Mall this weekend. Officers responded to reports of a large crowd of people fighting at the House of Torment at 5901 Airport Blvd. late Saturday night.

When they arrived, police say they saw a crowd of more than 200 gathers, some were fighting. The crowd grew more unruly and threw rocks at the officers when they tried to intervene, according to police.

Officers arrested three juveniles and one adult. Tyrie Laron Ockleberry, 17, Ahmad Raushaud Valdez-Carter, 17, Winzell William Washington, 17, and Charles Robertson-Davis, 22, face several charges including aggravated assault, disorderly conduct, and inciting a riot.

The House of Torment has posted a statement on its website that seeks to deflect safety concerns. “We just wanted to let everyone know the incident in the Highland Mall parking lot last night did not involve House of Torment patrons,” it reads. “We have a large and skilled security team who ensure the safety of all our guests. We hope to see you out real soon.”
