I Don’t Really Care About Trump Moving Embassy to Jerusalem

Maybe I’m missing something here, but it seems to me that the worst possible outcome of this move is a massive, devestating war in the Middle East in which tens of millions of people die.

So I’m not really seeing what the issue is.

ABC News:

In a momentous shift in United States policy in the Middle East, President Donald Trump officially recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel on Wednesday and initiated the process of relocating the U.S. embassy to the city from Tel Aviv.

“My announcement today marks the beginning of a new approach to conflict between Israel and the Palestinians,” Trump said from the White House, where he was joined by Vice President Mike Pence. He described it as a “long overdue step to advance the peace process.”

“While previous presidents have made this a major campaign promise, they failed to deliver,” he added. “Today I am delivering.”

His remarks were broad in nature — an intentional choice, according to a U.S. official and a source close to the White House who spoke to ABC News before the announcement.

Trump said Wednesday that “the U.S. would support a two-state solution if agreed to by both sides.”

There is now officially no path to Israel continuing to exist for more than maybe another decade, unless Trump is impeached or otherwise removed from office.

All this does is intensify conflict in the region.

Right now, Iran is building military bases in Syria – with Russia protecting them and threatening Israel not to interfere. The war is over. There is a Shiite belt.

What Israel counted on was being able to use the US to ensure their own interests, even against Russia, but Trump pulled support for ISIS (and their “moderate terrorist” allies) and allowed for Russia to end the war.

Now Israel has serious people encroaching in on them with an intent to wipe them off the map, and their only allies are the inbred Saudis.

They are agitating everything, but unless Trump is prepared to ground-invade to fight a war against Russia, what exactly are their options?

It seems to me accelerating things is good, no matter how you look at it at this point, simply because Israel doesn’t have any cards.

Who knows – I’m not a Middle East expert, and I’m not claiming to understand all the ramifications of this, but I don’t give a shit about the Arabs being butthurt over this, other than so much as that butthurt might lead to Jews getting killed.
