I Still Don’t Think Trump is Going to Allow DACA

Every time DACA is mentioned, everyone freaks out.

But I seriously doubt Trump will go there.

He can’t get reelected if he does and everyone knows that.

Look at what he is actually saying.

CNN:

President Donald Trump said Friday there will be no deal to protect hundreds of thousands of young undocumented immigrants from deportation without funding to build a wall along the US-Mexico border.

“The Democrats have been told, and fully understand, that there can be no DACA without the desperately needed WALL at the Southern Border and an END to the horrible Chain Migration & ridiculous Lottery System of Immigration etc,” Trump tweeted. “We must protect our Country at all cost!”

Trump’s declaration casts doubt over how Democrats and Republicans will come together to protect Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) participants — of which there are nearly 800,000 who were brought to the United States illegal as children — from deportation because it is unlikely that Democrats will agree to substantial funding for Trump’s border wall in exchange for DACA protections.

He is saying “give me absolutely every single other immigration issue and I’ll give you DACA.”

It’s a demand that he and everyone else knows the Democrats will never meet. If they actually did meet it, then it actually would be worth it – if we could kick out tens of millions of Mexicans, all the H1-Bs, the diversity lottery-winners and just outright ban Moslems, DACA would be a small price to pay.

The thing here is: we need to win in 2018.

This is really, really important.

I don’t know what’s going on with Bannonism at this point. I still believe, very strongly, that it is a valid strategy. I don’t think that Roy Moore’s loss changed anything. But obviously, the media and the GOP has a different response to the Alabama loss.

So we’ll see.

But even if we don’t beat GOP cucks in primaries, we need to continue to vote GOP.
