A Black Police Officer has taken incompetence to another level by shooting himself with his own pistol, USA Today reports.
The off-duty cop was on his way back home from dinner with his wife in Cincinnati, when he decided his weapon needing adjusting.
As Officer Darryl Jouett of the Erlanger (Ky.) Police Department fumbled around with himself his duty-issued .40-caliber semi-automatic handgun went off, with the bullet going straight through his gut and then bouncing round the walls of the elevator that he was in.
Since the injuries were not life-threatening and both the cop and victim were both Black, there have been no protests or riots over the shooting so far.
However Erlanger Police Department are not ruling anything out and Capt. Mike John with the Cincinnati Police Department said the situation was “very unusual.”
