They seem to like boasting of the fact that they have run away instead of staying behind to put their country right.

As protests rage in Tel Aviv’s heart to secure refugee status for illegal immigrants, one illegal immigrant was busy committing the type of crime the Infiltrator Law seeks to prevent.

Channel 2 reported Monday that a 45-year-old man of Sudanese origin is suspected in the stabbing of a restaurant manager on Lilienblum Street – just a half-hour’s walk away from the protests. The manager suffered moderate injuries; he was admitted to nearby Ichilov Hospital.

The suspect, who worked at the restaurant, apparently asked for a smoking break at about 1:30 pm Monday, the initial investigation revealed. When the manager refused, saying that business was too busy for anyone to take a break, the worker allegedly could not wait – and stabbed the manager before fleeing.

“We receive a call reporting that a person was stabbed,” Magen David Adom (MDA) medic Moshe Ohayon recounted. “When we arrived, we found a man, fully conscious, with stab wounds to his upper body. We administered first aid at the scene and then transferred him to hospital immediately.”

Police arrested the suspect and took him into custody to the central police station in Tel Aviv. The knife itself had been found at the scene of the crime.
