Italy Fails to Form Government After Right-Wing Minister’s Confirmation Cockblocked

The Italian drama is ongoing as the establishment continues to try to cockblock the will of the PEOPLE.

The two right-wing parties, 5-Star and Lega Nord, control 60% of Parliament now… but they can’t get their own people appointed.

Italy’s PM-designate Giuseppe Conte said he’s given up on attempts to form a government after President Sergio Mattarella rejected his candidacy for economy minister. The country may now face a new election by the end of 2018.

Conte confirmed his failure to form “the government of change” in Italy, saying: “I can assure you that I did my utmost to try to fulfill this task.”

Mattarella told the media that he “agreed to all the ministers except the finance minister” proposed by the coalition. “I asked for a figure, who would mean not risking an exit from the euro,” he explained.

As for the possibility of a new election, the president said that he will “take decisions on the basis of how the situation evolves in parliament.”

The president had summoned Conte to his office in order to find a way to break the two-months-long deadlock on forming the coalition government after a similar meeting on Friday ended fruitlessly.

The candidacy for economy minister has been the main stumbling block for the creation of the new cabinet in the country. The anti-establishment Five Star Movement (M5S) and its rightist coalition ally Lega Nord, which won the most parliamentary seats in the March vote, insist on having Paolo Savona in the vital role.

M5S was outraged by Mattarella’s decision, with 5-star leader Luigi Di Maio calling it “an institutional clash without precedent” in a Facebook live video.

“What’s the point of going to vote if it’s the ratings agencies that decide?” Di Maio fumed.

Di Maio went on to say that Italy is “not a democracy,” as the coalition, which holds 60 percent of the seats in parliament, is being prevented from forming the government of its choosing.

“The truth is that they don’t want the M5S in the government. I’m very angry, but it does not end here,” he said.

“I ask [the parliament] for impeachment for Mattarella,” Di Maio said, calling the president’s refusal to approve the government “incomprehensible.”

Meanwhile, the leader of the League is not taking a hardline on impeachment, instead talking about somehow maneuvering around the President.

Reuters:

The leader of Italy’s far-right League Matteo Salvini on Monday dismissed talk about a possible impeachment of the country’s president and said he wanted to change the electoral law with the 5-Star Movement.

“We need to keep cool. Some things cannot be done in the throes of anger… I don’t want to talk about impeachment,” Salvini said speaking in a radio interview with Radio Capital.

They’re playing good cop/bad cop.

The economic minister is a key figure of import because the key issue of import is pulling out of the euro. The right wing wants to start printing lira again.

Do-over elections are not going to change the Italian people’s mind.

The twin weapons of mass negroidism and economic turmoil – what is called “the Merkel Sandwich” – have created conditions among the population that make it impossible to return to the EU status quo.

New elections would either confirm the existing mandate or be rigged which would lead to riots.

At this point, the EU puppet masters are just buying time.

Italy defaulting on its debt and crashing out of the EU is inevitable.
