A thug who carried out three random and unprovoked attacks on women at Tube stations has been jailed.
Obi Ojukwu, 40, of Crown Mews, East Ham, was sentenced to six months in prison after pleading guilty to three counts of assault.
The first attack took place on a woman from Leyton at Bond Street on September 20.
The 30-year-old was onboard a westbound Central line train and became aware of Ojukwu acting strangely opposite her.
As she left the train at Bond Street, Ojukwu struck her on the left hand side of her face with the back of his hand, leaving her with slight bruising and a bloodshot eye.
The second attack happened 15 minutes later on the eastbound Central line platform at Shepherds Bush.
The 26-year-old victim was hit on the left hand side of her face by Ojukwu as he walked in the opposite direction.
He also hit a 17-year-old girl at King’s Cross Underground station on October 12.
He was identified with the help of CCTV and arrested on November 26.
Speaking after the sentencing, PC Gemma Ryan, the investigating officer, said: “These were random and unprovoked assaults against three lone women, who were left shocked, in pain and very upset by what happened.
“Although incidents like this are rare on the Tube network, I hope Obi Ojukwu‘s prison sentence serves as a stark warning that we do not tolerate attacks such as this, and, thanks to the excellent CCTV on board trains, we will continue to identify offenders and put them before the courts.”
