Athens-Clarke police said Wednesday they were investigating a woman’s report that she encountered a man with an apparent foot fetish.
The 23-year-old woman told police she was at the Athens-Clarke County Library on Baxter Street at about noon Tuesday when approached by a man who asked if she would participate in a survey, police said.
The woman agreed and accompanied the man to a study room at the back of the library, according to police.
There, “he asked her a series of questions about her health, specifically about her feet,” an officer wrote in a police incident report.
“(She) said that he asked her to remove her shoes and wiggle her toes, and he videotaped her actions on a very small camera,” the officer reported.
The woman described the camera as being the size of the officer’s digital audio recorder.
The man was described as a dark-skinned black male who was about 20 years old. He was said to be clean-cut and soft spoken, and wore a bright pink polo shirt and jeans, according to police.
The officer reported that library staffers would be interviewed in an attempt to identify the man.
