Drowning victim Jamel Dunn
Mocking someone while there drowning is never funny.
Well I mean, sometimes it is.
A group of teens who recorded and mocked a disabled man as he drowned in Florida last week have been formally charged for their role in his death, authorities said on Friday.
The charges against the five teenagers who recorded and made fun of Jamal Dunn, 31, as he drowned in a pond on July 7, were not detailed in a press conference, News 13 reported.
But Cocoa Police Chief Michael Cantaloupe said there’s no law requiring people to report to officials that someone is dying. After someone has died, however, people are required to contact authorities, he said.
…
In the video Dunn could be seen struggling to stay above the water in a Cocoa pond as the teens, who are between the ages of 14 and 16, watched, laughed and mocked him.
“Ain’t nobody going to help you, you dumb *****; you shouldn’t have got in there,” one of the teens can be heard saying in the video.
Dunn later drowned.
…
Police initially said that the teens were unlikely to face any charges since they weren’t directly involved in Dunn’s death.
Yeah, I don’t really think they did anything wrong.
Race aside, if he’s disabled – plus black, meaning he has a much smaller chest cavity and can’t float – then what the hell was he doing in the lake?
Also, how are the black teens supposed to save him, given that they can’t swim either? If they had tried to help him they all would have drown.
What a funny story though.
The video is hilarious, and shows just how much blacks tend to value life.
But they do have a point: he should’ve never went in there.
And in the video, if you can understand ebonics, one of them says “man you just let that guy die” (apparently excluding himself), and implied that they could have done something, and another one says that they couldn’t really have done anything, that they would also just end up dead.
I don’t know what the media means when they say “disabled,” but I assume the drowned Negro had a mental disability. One that made him think Negroes can swim.
