Police have charged a 22-year-old Louisville man with murder, ten days after a Simpsonville man was found shot to death in a vehicle in Pleasure Ridge Park.
James Travis Green is accused of shooting and killing Jacob T. Skees, 22, of Simpsonville, on Sept. 9 during an “illegal narcotics trafficking sale.” He was arrested on Wednesday.
Police say Green continued firing his weapon as the victim and a witness fled. Bullets struck a nearby house and “nearly struck a resident of that home as she layed in bed asleep,” according to an arrest citation.
After the shooting, police say Green went to his home and gave the weapon to his girlfriend. He “ordered her to get rid of it,” the arrest slip said.
Police found Skees dead inside a vehicle found in the 6300 block of Maravian Drive at about 2 a.m., Louisville police previously said. The shooting took place a few blocks away, according to the arrest citation, in the 6500 block of Hackel Drive.
Green is charged with murder, first-degree wanton endangerment, receiving a stolen firearm and tampering with physical evidence, according to the arrest citation.
