It actually says “pederasts.” That would be the literal there.
“педерасти.”
It is used as a slur, but translating it as “faggot” is incorrect, because it isn’t necessarily a slur. It is the same word for “pederast” used in academic literature on the practice. If he wanted to translate it as a slur, more appropriate would be “boy fuckers,” which is what Slavs mean to say when they use it as a slur.
Note on why I can read Russian: I can’t really read Russian, I just know the Cyrillic alphabet. The word is actually the same in both English and Russian. I have been studying it a bit. You’d do well to learn to read some Russian as well. Or some Chinese. Or, I suppose, Arabic, if that’s the team you’re betting on.
