How difficult can it be to perform a carjacking without spraying blood over the seat of the vehicle you’re trying to steal?
A teenager is behind bars after he admitted to shooting and killing a Memphis woman during a carjacking attempt.
Police said Djuantay Jacocks, 18, participated in two carjackings on Nov. 19 within a half hour of each other – the latter being deadly.
Jacocks and another man are accused of carjacking and robbing a man sitting in his driveway in the 700 block of Isabelle Street.
Investigators said the suspects stole his 2006 Ford F-150 and drove away from the scene. Thirty minutes later, Larry and Belinda Humphreys were the victims of another attempted carjacking sitting in their 2004 Ford F-150.
Humphreys said he remembers seeing a few men standing on the corner.
This time, Jacocks and another man approached the couple at the intersection of Truman Avenue and Ozan Street, but the doors were locked.
Jacocks admitted to firing several shots into the vehicle, police said. Both victims were struck, but Belinda Humphreys was killed from her injuries.
