Microsoft Just Bought Github

Well, this is a disaster.

Github was a very important part of internet infrastructure which made a point to stay independent for a long time.

Why is the government allowing mega-corporations to consolidate a tech oligopoly while we are ostensibly living under communism in every other area of our lives?

Somehow, the worst parts of authoritarian communism and libertarian capitalism have been combined to create the ultimate Jew system.

Microsoft on Monday announced plans to acquire software developer platform GitHub in a deal valued at $7.5 billion.

GitHub was valued at $2 billion in its last funding round in 2015, though it has yet to turn a profit.

Microsoft has seen its once-dominant Windows unit slip in market share in recent years, spurring a cloud-first reorganization and sending Microsoft looking for alternatives to court developers.

“Microsoft is a developer-first company, and by joining forces with GitHub we strengthen our commitment to developer freedom, openness and innovation,” Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said in a statement. “We recognize the community responsibility we take on with this agreement and will do our best work to empower every developer to build, innovate and solve the world’s most pressing challenges.”

Microsoft vice president Nat Friedman will assume the role of GitHub CEO, the company said. He takes over for the developer platform’s founder Chris Wanstrath, who stepped down 10 months ago.

“The future of software development is bright, and I’m thrilled to be joining forces with Microsoft to help make it a reality,” Wanstrath said. “Their focus on developers lines up perfectly with our own, and their scale, tools and global cloud will play a huge role in making GitHub even more valuable for developers everywhere.”

GitHub’s tools have become essential to software developers, who use it to store code, keep track of updates and discuss issues.

It’s basically a place where software developers – largely open-source software developers – collaborate on projects. It’s a goto spot for updated versions of various programs associated with Linux.

Microsoft will just destroy it.

Remember Skype before Microsoft bought it?

They bought it in 2011, and it is somehow, 7 years later, worse than when they bought it.

Just compare it to the startup Discord. Although I am extremely against Discord for security reasons, it is simply a fact than in a couple months after beta launch, it was better software than Skype.

Microsoft is really just a totally shitty company, and the only product of any value they’ve touched in the last 15 years that is worth a shit is X-Box. And that is because it is in constant competition with the Japs.

Seriously, look at the list of shit they own. It is all crap.

Even from the standpoint of understanding that mega-corporations tend to produce inferior products due to their very nature, Microsoft represents the very worst of this.

There is a reason people oppose monopolies, which goes beyond some moral qualm about corporate control: it’s because when you don’t have any competition, you have no incentive to create a good product.

The reason Apple has a better OS than Windows is that they came at it when MS effectively had a monopoly. But Apple was in a very unique situation that allowed them to oppose MS. Unique circumstances are becoming less and less of a thing, as corporations continue to consolidate into monopolies, so we are just going to have increasingly shitty products forced on us.

It’s a bad system.

Someone should stop it.
