The famous and beloved right-wing GRIDS patient Milo Yiannopoulos was banned from Twitter today.

Breitbart:

Conservative commentator and Breitbart Tech editor Milo Yiannopoulos has been suspended from Twitter ahead of a planned press conference in Orlando, Florida.

The timing of this suspension cannot be ignored. Yiannopoulos was planning to give a press conference today near the Pulse dance club in Orlando, the target of a deadly Muslim terrorist attack that left over 100 dead or wounded.

America has to make a very simple choice here. This is not a question of fine distinctions politicians and our media make between Islam and radical Islamist terrorists, really it’s all the same thing, there is a structural problem with Islam, most of them don’t like gays very much. This isn’t news to anyone except our media.” said Milo yesterday on the Todd Shapiro show. Perhaps it is Milos outspoken opinion on this subject that has had him removed from Twitters already restrictive platform.

It is not yet entirely clear why Milo has been suspended but it is unsurprising that this has happened mere days after Milo tweeted his condemnation of Islamic culture and it’s opinions of homosexuals. Yiannopoulos has been highly outspoken in his condemnation of Islam following the Orlando attacks, and recently wrote a viral article slamming the left for “choosing Islam over gays.”

Immediately after the banning, Milo’s account was restored. Because people complained.

Backtracking like this makes the company look horribly weak and poorly managed. Milo is basically the most controversial figure on Twitter at this point, due to the amount of media he’s been getting, and it is hard to believe the decision to suspend could have been made without the input of Jack himself.

So what is going on here, exactly?

It appears to be a clash between ideology and money, with no definite side being chosen, which is resulting in extremely sloppy managing of the newly-expanded censorship agenda.

I have made it no secret that I do not approve of Milo being promoted as the Jewish homosexual leader of the Nazi movement. However, I do support his right to speech, and recognize that he is purposefully provoking Twitter into deciding what kind of company it wants to be.

Everyone is Getting Banned from Everything

Eventually, everyone is going to get banned from everything.

But we are creative people and we have creative strategy. The establishment, on the other hand, has only one strategy which is to whine and silence people who disagree with them.

It looked as those this Milo banning was the beginning of the full-on shutdown of Twitter, as he is not only relatively moderate compared to many, but also a member of not one but two protected groups. And he uses his real name. If they can ban him, they can ban anyone.

What does the backtracking mean?

No idea, really. But I’d say it’s some sort of a victory.
