Melissa Williams
Melissa Williams had worked for Collin County Community Supervision and Corrections in the administrative department. Co-workers say she had a kind, giving spirit and a wonderful attitude.

McKinney police have identified the couple involved in the murder-suicide at a daycare on Thursday as Melissa Williams, 35, and Cedric McFail, 33.

Police were called at about 5:45 p.m. to the Discovery Learning Center at 1815 W. White Ave. in McKinney. Witnesses told police they heard a man and woman arguing followed by gunshots.

Police said Williams was at the daycare to pick up her two children. McFail approached her car, fired shots into the vehicle and then left, according to police. Williams was found dead in her car.

Cedric McFail
Cedric McFail approached his ‘wifes’ vehicle after an argument in the parking lot at the Discovery Learning Center. He opened fire with the children inside killing her, before running off and then later taking his own life.

Police received a call just after 6 p.m. of a second shooting at a home in the 2700 block of Frontier Lane. The caller told police that McFail came in, had a brief conversation and then shot himself. McFail was transported to Baylor Medical Center in McKinney, where he died.

The children, ages 1 and 4, were in the car when the shooting occurred but were not injured. Child Protective Services has placed them with close family friends.

Police continue to investigate. Anyone with information should call 972-547-2700.
