Amelia Rae Molitor was unconscious for 20 seconds after being punched in the face by Joe Mixon.

OU freshman running back Joe Mixon is accused of assaulting a woman on Campus Corner. Now, Mixon’s attorney says Mixon was the one being verbally and physically attacked, and his actions were in self-defense.

The once most sought-after athlete in the country met with Norman Police Monday afternoon to answer some questions. He has yet to be arrested or charged.

Mixon’s attorney said in statement Monday evening that Mixon “instinctually defended himself.”

“Some girl just got clocked in the face,” said a 911 caller around 2:30 a.m. Friday.

The 911 call came in just moments after an OU student claims she was attacked inside Pickleman’s Café.

“What I’ve been told is that he came in and was yelling at me and we exchanged words,” said Amelia Rae Molitor.

His accuser, a 20-year-old Junior at OU, claims Mixon threw a punch so powerful it knocked her unconscious for at least 20 seconds.

But, Mixon’s Attorney, Kevin Finlay, says in a statement, “We are looking forward to a thorough investigation and are very much looking forward to the truth coming out. As we have always maintained, Joe has done nothing wrong.”

The Black thug says that he was just ‘instinctualy defending himself’.

“He punched me in the face so hard that I have four bones broken in my face,” said Molitor.

Molitor plans to press charges against the football star, but admits she’s doesn’t remember everything that happened before, during, or even after the alleged altercation.

“I remember walking into Pickleman’s, and like I literally don’t remember really anything, until I was in the bathroom and everybody is banging on the door trying to get me out,” said Molitor.

Mixon’s attorney says “Mixon found himself in a situation where he was subjected to both verbal and physical attacks from a very intoxicated and troubled young woman.”

Molitor does have a criminal history out of Cleveland County, including possession of marijuana and possession of alcohol under the age of 21.

There is video of the incident at Picklman’s Café, but police won’t release it during the investigation.

News 9 reached out to Amelia again Monday evening. We were told to contact her attorney for further comment. Norman police say there are still as many as 12 witnesses to question.

Tuesday morning, Mixon’s attorney Matt Swain released the following statement,

“We also requested that the Norman Police Department ask the DA’s office to file assault and battery charges against Mia Molitor based on her behavior in the video, which we saw earlier today.”

Norman police continue to interview more witnesses Tuesday.
