The man arrested in the deadly hit and run of a Shaker Heights school teacher appeared in court Friday.
Derick Allan Ward, 45, of Cleveland was taken into custody by Shaker Heights Police Department and charged with aggravated vehicular homicide in connection with the hit and run death of Caffrey.
His bond was set at $1.5 million.
Caffrey was a 51-year-old fifth grade teacher at Woodbury School in Shaker Heights who was jogging down South Park Boulevard at about 5:30 p.m., on Saturday, Jan. 24, 2015, when a vehicle driven by Ward struck him from behind causing his death.
