Police arrested the second suspect in the Dover-area home invasion that left two people dead last weekend.
Saleem Shabazz, 21, was arrested at about 5 p.m. Thursday on the unit block of E. Jacoby St. in Norristown, Pennsylvania, according to Delaware State Police on Friday.
Sgt. Richard D. Bratz declined to give any further information about the arrest or the relationship between Shabazz and Matthew Harrington, the 23-year-old Pennsylvania man who turned himself in to the Buckingham Township Police – about 20 miles from Norristown – on Sunday. He is being held at a Bucks County prison and is awaiting extradition, Delaware State Police said.
The extradition process is getting underway for Harrington, said Carl Kanefsky, spokesman for the Delaware Attorney General’s Office. As to when Harrington will be brought back to Delaware, Kanefsky said, “It all depends on whether or not he fights.”
Shabazz is being held in the Montgomery County Correctional Facility while he awaits extradition, according to police.
The pair, armed with handguns, broke into a home along the 1400 block of John Clark Road in Rodney Village, between Camden and Dover, early last Saturday morning, according to police. Gunfire during the home invasion left its owner, Clifton M. Leager, 52, dead and his son wounded.
An 18-year-old woman from northeast Philadelphia, Haley Henwood, who had travelled with Shabazz and Harrington to Dover, according to police, was also killed in the gunfire.
Henwood was found behind a shed on David Hall Road – a few suburban yards over from where the gunfight broke out on John Clark Road – where a police dog tracked her scent.
