An arrest has been made in the murder of a woman at a New Madrid County, Mo. rest area.
According to the New Madrid County Sheriff’s Office, 27-year-old Eliot D. Bonner, of St. Charles, Mo, is charged with first-degree murder, armed criminal action and unlawful possession of a firearm in the October 31, 2018 shooting of Monica Keenlance.
Authorities interviewed a person at the O’Fallon, Missouri Police Department. During the interview, the person said they talked to Bonner on November 2, 2018 and he told her he shot and killed a woman at a rest stop.
According to the probable cause statement, Bonner asked Keenlance for $50 at the rest stop and she called him a racial slur and told him to get a job. Bonner then shot her.
Bonner took off in a stolen red SUV matching the description given by a witness.
He is currently being held at the McCulloch County Jail in Brady, Texas waiting to be extradited on the new charges.
