New Years Eve Hit and Run Survivor Valerie Calonge was the only one left alive after the Negro jumped in a car and ran them all over.

A jury found Michael Leday guilty on several counts in a brutal New Year’s Day double homicide.

Leday was found guilty of two counts of second degree murder for the deaths of Patrick Balbastro and Cindy Burnett and two counts of aggravated assault for Valerie Calonge.

“I honestly think the jury got it wrong,” said Lorraine Solorzano, Balbastro’s sister. “We were really hoping for first degree murder and there is a higher power that he’s going to have to look to one day.”

Leday hit and killed Balbastro and Burnett with a car on New Year’s Day, 2014. He also hit and seriously injured Calonge.

Balbastro and Calonge were on their way home after celebrating New Year’s Eve when they saw a man hurting a woman on the side of the road. They stopped to help the woman, who they did not know. That led to a fight between Balbastro and Leday.
