Ronald Wayne McNeil.
This is one of the many reasons we should not let our girls go to college or parties.
A 42-year-old College Station man has been given a 99-year sentence for killing a 19-year-old Blinn College student at a gradation party in May 2015.
Judge Kyle Hawthorne, of the 85th District Court, sentenced Ronald Wayne McNeil to a life sentence just after 2:30 on Tuesday afternoon.
Last week, jurors convicted McNeil for the murder of Lacie LaRose, a 19-year-old Blinn College student, in May 2015.
Testimony from the four-day guilt/innocence phase of the trial indicated McNeil had fired 11 shots into the backyard of a graduation party on May 3, 2015, killing LaRose and injuring two other men. Multiple witnesses who had attended the party that night testified that McNeil and Charles Williams, both of whom are African-American,had left the party after white partygoers called them racial slurs.
Witnesses also testified that one white partygoer, Landon Duke, struck Willams in the face and knocked him onto the ground as the two men were trying to leave.
