Police said Jerome Adams is the man who attacked a homeless woman in June. They say he beat up, sexually assaulted, and stabbed her.
They believe he also attacked a second woman about three months later.
Police said because the attacks were so similar, they figured they were looking for a serial rapist targeting homeless women. They had DNA from both assaults. They said lots of officers helped.
Ehrenrich also said police interviewed and took swabs for DNA comparisons until they got a hit. That led to the arrest of Jerome Adams for several crimes related to the September attack.
“During his interview, he did confess to the one and stated that he had committed similar acts but couldn’t remember exactly when or where,” said Ehrenrich.
Police believe Adams may be connected to more attacks and that there may be other victims that haven’t come forward.
“We’re gonna be running the DNA to make sure it’s to compare it to that other case because we believe its related,” Ehrenrich said.
