A year after her murder, Havre de Grace police said they have made charges in the slaying 15-year-old Maleigha Solonka.
Solonka’s body was found in a wooded area of Havre de Grace after she disappeared the day before her birthday. Officials said she had been strangled.
Naeshawn Perry, 17, has been charged as an adult with first- and second-degree murder.
Perry is currently in juvenile custody for an unrelated rape case that took place in February 2017, six months before Solonka was killed. Police said they plan to serve a warrant on the murder charges this week.
