On Friday, a judge ruled that a woman, who allegedly stabbed a 3-year-old boy to death as he sat in a grocery cart outside an Ohio supermarket and injured his mother, is incompetent to stand trial.
Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Judge John Russo said 33-year-old Bionca Ellis will remain hospitalized indefinitely and could eventually stand trial if her condition improves.
According to The New York Post, her bail was set at $5 million after the attack and her trial had been scheduled to begin on Dec. 9.

Law enforcement said on June 3, Ellis was in the Giant Eagle grocery store in North Olmsted when she saw Julian Wood and his mother Margot and followed them into the parking lot. As Margot was about to load her groceries into the trunk of her car, Ellis allegedly charged at them with a knife, stabbed Julian twice, and then stabbed Margot in the shoulder as the mother tried to pull her son out of the shopping cart.
Julian died at a hospital where Margot Wood was also treated for her wounds. Ellis was located by the police a short distance away, still holding the knife allegedly used in the attack. Authorities believe the attack was a “random act of violence.”
Ellis previously smiled and giggled during a court appearance as the charges were read against her.
