After the recent outrage caused by the 1971 interview, it was only a matter of time before they figured out ways to attack Mr. John Wayne. After all, he’s dead, so they can’t threaten his job, in fact they can’t do anything to him, so they’re going for the next closest thing: the memories of him.
Sometimes things from the past can come back to haunt you even after you’re dead. That’s the case for legendary actor John Wayne, whose name was applied to California’s Orange County Airport in 1979. This month, someone dug up an interview that Wayne did with Playboy magazine in 1971, and his comments range from politically incorrect to grossly offensive by contemporary standards. That led the Los Angeles Times to run an editorial urging that Orange County officials rename their airport, claiming that the 1971 interview shows Wayne to be “an outspoken racist and homophobe.” Here’s one sample of The Duke’s thoughts on native Americans: “I don’t feel we did wrong in taking this great country away from them … There were great numbers of people who needed new land, and the Indians were selfishly trying to keep it for themselves.” And that’s mild compared to his comments on African Americans and gays. Not even the dead are safe from the ban on conservatives.
What Mr. Wayne said wasn’t even controversial at the time. It was just another valid and common sense political view. And even the people who disagreed with it respected his right to say it.
This shows you yet again how hypocritical these leftist types are. They’re always mumbling about not judging other cultures through the lenses of your own culture, how some things white men are not allowed to do are okay for brown people to do because “it’s their culture” and so on. They do this with things such as Moslems marrying child Moslems, Moslems sexually assaulting our women, and Jews literally sucking the recently bloodied dicks of baby Jews.
You see, this was John Wayne’s culture. The past had another culture, and following the “respect other cultures” logic of the left, shouldn’t they respect John Wayne’s opinion?
No, of course not, because the left doesn’t follow its own ideals. At least not the ones it says it has.
The ideal they always follow is white genocide. That’s the one thing they’ve been consistent at.
You may want to consider giving Orange County Airport a call and letting them know that you don’t want them to remove the name of John Wayne.
