Pearl Jam have canceled their Wednesday night concert in Raleigh, North Carolina to protest the state’s recently passed HB2, also known as the “bathroom bill.” In a handwritten statement, the band told fans, “It is with deep consideration and much regret that we must cancel the Raleigh show in North Carolina on April 20th. This will be upsetting to those who have tickets and you can be assured that we are equally frustrated by the situation.”
“The HB2 law that was recently passed is a despicable piece of legislation that encourages discrimination against an entire group of American citizens,” Pearl Jam continued. “The practical implications are expansive and its negative impact upon basic human rights is profound. We want America to be a place where no one can be turned away from a business because of who they love or fired from their job for who they are.”
Pearl Jam join other artists like Bruce Springsteen, Ringo Starr and Boston in canceling North Carolina concerts in order to protest the controversial bill. Artists like Mumford & Sons, Cyndi Lauper and Laura Jane Grace similarly used their North Carolina concerts as platforms to raise money for groups fighting HB2. While Pearl Jam pulled out of their North Carolina show, the band has “communicated with local groups and will be providing them with funds to help facilitate progress on this issue,” and point fans in the direction of a petition that calls for the repeal of HB2.
As we’ve reported, this entire thing is being framed falsely by the media.
As if allowing mentally ill men dressed up as women to enter women’s bathrooms wasn’t weird enough, this law also allows men to go into girls’ locker rooms and get naked in front of little girls, as well as look at little girls changing. All the man has to do to do this is say he’s a tranny.
And this is happening.
A man twice entered the changing room of a swimming pool and began disrobing, once in front of a young girls’ swim team, saying transgender policies gave him the right to do so.
The unidentified man entered Evans pool in Seattle near Green Lake last Monday, February 8, and began taking off his shirt in front of female patrons.
When asked what he was doing, he said, “The law has changed and I have a right to be here.”
“Seeing this individual in the locker room, parents of swim team members (girls) and women who had paid for lap swim became alarmed and alerted our front desk staff,” said Seattle Parks spokesman David Takami in a statement. “In response, an Evans pool staff member entered the women’s locker room and asked the man to leave.” They offered both the man and the girls the opportunity to use a family changing room.
He left, only to return during a later youth lap swim, Takami said.
Officials said he had made no attempt to present himself as a woman, nor to identify as transgender when he checked in. By all appearances, he was a man.
But appearances do not matter when it comes to “gender identity.” LGBT theorists hold that biological sex is distinct from gender, which is determined solely by the person’s mental self-identification.
Takami affirmed, “We have guidelines that allow transgender individuals to use restrooms and locker rooms consistent with their gender identity.”
“We want everyone to feel comfortable in our facilities,” he said.
Some patrons feel the man, who has yet to be identified, exploited the law to peep at women. “Either identify yourself as a transgender or you’re not, and you’re just taking advantage of a loophole,” MaryAnne Sato, who visits the pool several times a week, told USA Today.
So that is what Pearl Jam and the rest of these people are protesting for: the right of adult men to get naked in front of naked little girls.
When “The Boss” canceled his NC concert a week ago, a Jew came out and said he was “standing against evil.”
