Pillars of Eternity II is Infested with Social Justice Propaganda

When Obsidian Entertainment announced Pillars of Eternity in 2012, a lot of unapologetic nerds – myself included – took notice. You see, this game was conceived as a spiritual successor to none other than Baldur’s Gate, one of the greatest RPGs ever made.

And, for the most part, Obsidian ended up exceeding our expectations.

Aside from being an excellent game, Pillars of Eternity also exhibited the same lack of poz that marked its predecessor. Its fictional setting, based on medieval Europe, was one in which men were men, women were women and Jews were Guls that met the business end of a pollaxe.

Pillars even included a “transphobic” joke that caused SJWs to chimp out and demand its removal. True, Obsidian ceded to them, but the fact that the devs incorporated the joke at all suggests that they were not of the prevailing SJW mindset.

Pillars of Eternity’s lead designer also spearheaded Icewind Dale II (aka Eugenics Simulator II), a game in which you hunt down two half-breed demons and their mongrel followers for being genetic abominations. Who says that video games don’t prepare you for the coming race war?

So, when Obsidian announced Pillars of Eternity II in 2016, I happily pre-ordered it. At a time when most new titles seemed to be generic military shooters with multiracial casts, it felt good to hand my hard-earned shekels to a developer that upheld white culture.

Well, Obsidian released Pillars of Eternity II this month, and…

… How do I put this eloquently…

It’s pozzed af.

I don’t know what the Obsidian devs were drinking between 2016 and 2017 – soy lattes in heated plastic cups, it seems – but Pillars II is the most feminist game I’ve ever played. It’s multiracial, too, though that’s more understandable given its Caribbean-inspired setting.

But the feminism… wow. That’s what stuck with me. I’m not exaggerating when I say that almost every powerful leader in the game is a goddamn woman.

The head of the Bardatto estate, an influential banker who gives the player orders?

A womyn who don’t need no man.

The head of the Kahanga tribe, a headstrong queen who gives the player orders?

A womyn who don’t need no man.

The individual you serve throughout the game?

That’s Berath, a god who’s supposed to be genderless…

… But assumes the form of a womyn who don’t need no man.

At the end of the game, one of the recruitable NPCs – an insufferable negress – even succeeds in bringing women into a fraternal order.

(Btw, if you plan to buy this SJW game and want to avoid spoilers, don’t read the previous sentence.)

The childless spectre of feminism also rears its head in other, more unexpected areas. Upon reaching the inner chamber of a dungeon called Oathbinder’s Sanctum, for example, you’re greeted with the sight of a man who’s about to be executed for treason by a group of hooded cultists.

The leader of the cult is a womyn who… well, you know.

It just goes on and on. Shameless, incessant and deliberate. The few male leaders in the game tend to be incompetent and, in at least one instance, end up being replaced by stronger female leaders depending on the choices you’ve made up to that point.

But that’s not all…

There’s also a huge amount of homosexual propaganda in Pillars II. All of the romanceable NPCs in the game are bisexual, and there are also scripted encounters at sea where members of your ship’s crew – usually men – enter your living quarters hoping for a cheeky backdoor romp.

I’m so sick of this shit.

I expect this kind of nonsense from Canadians (at least 80% of the major SJW games, from Dragon Age: Inquisition to Mass Effect: Andromeda to Deus Ex: Mankind Divided are Trudeauland productions), but not from American devs who specialize in isometric RPGs.

Like the first game, Pillars of Eternity II’s audience is white men of a certain age (30+) who are fueled by nostalgia for the Infinity Engine games. These are the same people who are victimized in real life by the kikery that Obsidian now promotes.

What sort of studio is dumb enough to bite the hand that feeds it?

If Obsidian thinks it’s going to attract more female buyers with this feminism then they’re in for a shock, because women are brainlets who wouldn’t understand RPG rulesets if they were explained to them at a Punch & Judy show.

This is hieroglyphics to everyone except white men.

I suspect that the individual who encouraged this descent into SJWism is Carrie Patel, the game’s lead writer (she’s white but married to a street-shitter, hence the surname). Though she was also lead writer on the first game and that didn’t contain this stuff, so idk.

[Editor’s Note: She was one of three head writers on the original and is credited as sole head writer on this one – and it isn’t 2012 anymore, fam. Here’s her Twitter account. -AA].

Regardless, the community has noticed Obsidian’s agenda. Even the game’s Steam forum is filled with people complaining about its SJW content (1,2), and initial sales of the game have been poor compared to those of the hugely successful original.

Needless to say, I encourage all readers to boycott this game. It pains me to say that, because Obsidian was once a leading light in game development, but this is just too much. If you must play Pillars II but don’t want to support nation-wrecking politics, take a hint from the game’s pirate setting.

As for me, I think I’m going to just reinstall Quake again.

Fuck this century, I’m gonna go back to Windows ’95 too.
