Poll: Merkel’s Party Hits 12 Year Low

I don’t think Germany can save itself at this point.

But they might be able to oust Merkel and replace her with some figure with identical policies. That would at least cause a global shakeup.

I had a feeling she was going to make it through the last “row.” But she can’t hold on forever.

Reuters:

Support for German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s conservative bloc, trying to move beyond a bitter dispute over migrant policy that threatened the coalition, has fallen to its lowest level since 2006, a poll showed on Sunday.

The Emnid poll published in Bild am Sonntag showed Merkel’s Christian Democrats and their sister party, Bavaria’s Christian Social Union (CSU), down one percentage point at 29 percent. That compares with 33 percent in the September election.

The CSU faces a tough regional election in October with polls showing it could lose its absolute majority in Bavaria.

The Social Democrats (SPD), who share power with the conservatives in Merkel’s coalition, failed to capitalize on those losses, also falling one point to 18 percent.

The far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) was unchanged at 15 percent while the Greens rose 2 points to 14 percent, their best showing this year, according to Bild am Sonntag.

Yeah, AfD is probably not viable. They have all these scandals, they’ve got weird people and women involved, their platform doesn’t really make any coherent sense – basically, they’ve got all the same problems Le Pen had.

But who knows. They could end up as part of a coalition. That is within the realm of the possible.

In the bigger scheme of things, Donald Trump has the ability to put pressure on Germany from many sides.

That’s why he’s trying to replace Theresa May with Boris Johnson.

And of course, the Russian alliance – if it were to be formed – would make all of this irrelevant. We could collapse NATO and just let Europe implode in on itself, as the fringe nations attempt to flee the sinking ship.

I think Trump should visit Italy.

Or at least invite Salvini to Washington and give a big press conference on the future of Europe.

Furthermore, Salvini is reaching out to Russia, but it feels like Putin is too shy to grab his hand.

Honestly, I don’t get why Putin is shy about working with European nationalists.

He’s already doing the time, he might as well do the crime.

Right?
