UPDATE:
Well, this is very weird, but I don’t have time to try and think about what it might mean.
An apparent false “active shooter” call prompted a lengthy lockdown at Redstone Arsenal in Alabama on Tuesday, but the U.S. Army post’s gates were reopened later in the afternoon.
An individual called 911 to report an “active shooter” at Building 1501, an office building known locally as “Sparkman Center Complex,” officials told Fox News. The military post in Huntsville issued the alert on Twitter for a “possible active shooter on the Arsenal” just before 10:30 a.m. The tweet continued, “Installation is on lockdown. Run, hide, fight.”
The lockdown at Redstone Arsenal was lifted around 12:30 p.m. local time and employees were allowed to “move about the post in an orderly fashion, but [were] asked to keep movements limited, as needed,” the post wrote in a Facebook post. The gates were opened but roads near the center remained closed.
Spokesman Christopher Colster said an investigation was being conducted, but officials believed there was no ongoing threat. No injuries or arrests were reported. He added a training exercise was ongoing at the post and was expected to end on Wednesday. However, Colster wouldn’t say whether the active shooter report was part of the exercise.
“I really can’t say at this point what happened. I’m not sure myself,” Colster said.
Army spokesman Col. Rich Spiegel initially told Fox News he could not “confirm there is an actual active shooter.”
“We are taking this seriously. There has been a very active law enforcement response,” Speigel said at the time. “There is an internal shelter in place order in effect.”
I guess it kind of looks to me like there was a shooter, but they are now covering it up for some reason. I suppose there are a lot of reasons they might want to do that.
But they did say there was supposed to be a drill, so maybe the simplest explanation is that some diversity hire fucked up the drill. I don’t know why they wouldn’t just say that someone confused the drill. Maybe they are embarrassed.
I don’t know.
In the scheme of things, it doesn’t matter very much to me.
Just more stupid nonsense.
Original article follows.
Could be a white guy, I guess.
It sometimes is. It does happen. Almost always because of SSRIs.
Statistically, of course, it’s always very unlikely that any act of violence is committed by a white man.
RT:
There is an “emergency situation” at Redstone Arsenal, an Army garrison outside Huntsville, Alabama, which may be an active shooter, local news reports. The post has been placed on lockdown, and employees are sheltering in place.
Marshall Space Flight Center and Redstone have both issued alerts. The flight center said there is an “emergency situation” near the Sparkman Center, while the arsenal tweeted about reports of an active shooter.
A second message from Marshall was sent half an hour after the first one, reading: “An active shooter has been reported at the RSA Sparkman Center. Personnel in this area take protective action now. This is not a drill.”

Redstone was scheduled to have active shooter training on Wednesday, but officials at the arsenal told the Huntsville Times that this is a genuine incident.
Multiple emergency response vehicles, including police cars and ambulances, have been reported heading towards Redstone.
The arsenal hosts between 36,000 and 40,000 federal employees and contractors a day. It is host to the US Materiel Command, the Army’s Aviation and Missile Command, the Pentagon’s Missile Defense Agency, and NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center.
…
Marshall Space Flight Center is home to NASA’s largest center, focusing on rocketry and spacecraft propulsion. It also hosts the Huntsville Operations Support Center, which supports launches from Florida’s Kennedy Space Center to the International Space Station, as well as payload and experiment activities from Cape Canaveral.
A suspicious person has been reported outside the TVA Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant in Athens, Alabama. While the situation has not been elevated to alert status, Limestone County sheriff’s deputies are responding with a higher number of units than normal as “an abundance of caution type thing based on what’s going on elsewhere,” sheriff’s spokesman Stephen Young told the Decatur Daily, referring to the lockdown at Redstone Arsenal
The person was supposedly taking pictures of the nuclear plant.
More than two hours after the first reports of an active shooter at Redstone, people are beginning to be allowed to leave the base, though the lockdown is still in place.
So, no real information as of yet.
There are some tweets.
