The attorney for a 19-year-old accused of fatally beating a 97-year-old Des Moines man says his client will use an insanity defense.
Trial is scheduled to begin April 13 for Ngor Makuey, who has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder and other charges.

Makuey is accused of entering the home of Rupert and Harriet Anderson on July 2 and attacking the couple. Rupert Anderson died of his injuries. Ninety-four-year-old Harriet Anderson survived.
