Purse Snatching Black Coward Attacks Elderly White Woman

The 62-year-old White woman was attacked outside the AMC Regency in Brandon.

Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office arrested Ja’Marcus Russ in a robbery and attack of a woman near a Brandon movie theater.

A Hillsborough County woman is recovering after she was attacked and robbed walking into a movie theater Tuesday.

The attack happened outside the AMC Regency in Brandon shortly before 6 p.m.

The victim said she is still terrified knowing her attacker is on the loose and asked us not to disclose her identity.

During an interview with ABC Action News on Thursday, she said she kept thinking to herself that she did not want to die in a parking lot.

“It was so vicious and so violent and so mean,” the victim said.

Surveillance video released by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office shows a man running from the parking lot where they said he attacked the 62-year-old woman and stole her purse.

She told us she was walking into this movie theater for a charity event when the attack happened.

The terrified victim fought back as long as she could, but was left with two broken toes, bruises up and down her arm and on the side of her face. Ja’Marcus Russ has now been arrested for the attack.

“I was holding my purse like this with two hands and when he grabbed the back strap. It spun me around,” she said.

She said the attacker then punched her repeatedly in the side of her head and kicked her.

“There was a point when I realized I was in the fight of my life,” the victim said.

The victim told us she did everything she could to fight back.

“I was going to go down fighting, and I fought as long and as hard as I could. But he just kept hitting me and hitting me and hitting me until I reached a point I couldn’t fight anymore,” she said.

The attack left her with two broken toes, bruises up and down her arm and on the side of her face.

“I think the thing that makes me the angriest is that there is lowlife people out there who just prey on people and do this sort of thing,” she said.

Deputies are looking for two men who drove away in a red Chevrolet Impala.
