Yes, Amtrak is something of a joke. We all know that. And they do sometimes have issues.
But serious issues like this are, relative to the number of rides taken, relatively rare.
A train carrying members of Congress to a Republican retreat in West Virginia has been involved in an accident, after apparently striking a dump truck and derailing.
The truck may have been stuck on the tracks. Some members were thrown from their seats during the collision, Fox News is told.
Lawmakers on the train flooded social media with images of the wrecked truck, as well as damage to the crumpled front of the train.
Amtrak released a brief statement saying the train “came into contact” with the vehicle but there are no reported injuries to passengers or crew members — though the truck driver reportedly is getting medical attention.
“There are no reported injuries to passengers or crew members. Local law enforcement is investigating the incident and crews are inspecting the equipment for damage,” Amtrak spokeswoman Kimberly Woods said in a statement.
The accident took place in Crozet, Va., near Charlottesville, Va. Members were on a special chartered Amtrak train to the Greenbrier resort, where Vice President Pence was set to speak Wednesday night, with a planned appearance from President Trump on Thursday.
So I’m not going to claim that this is anything other than an accident until we are told otherwise.
What I will tell you is that the Jewish ethnic activists of Antifa has openly discussed train-related terrorism before.
The prominent Antifa terrorist site “It’s Going Down” had posted and deleted a blog about how they were sabotaging trains in Oregon back in April.
Earlier this year, a prominent #Antifa website published an article tacking credit for the sabotage of train tracks in Olympia, WA. In this article they claimed to have poured concrete on the tracks. It has since been deleted. #Amtrak pic.twitter.com/aHfwdSM1ce

Ten days before the incident, the Antifa group talked about other train-related terrorism.
Here is an article from 9 days ago where #Antifa extremists claim they sabotaged train tracks. This is the far-left. #Amtrak pic.twitter.com/ckJCdw1LWI

It remains unclear whether or not Antifa actually had anything to do with the December derailment, which resulted in deaths. But it is certain – and even admitted by Snopes – that they posted this blog claiming they were derailing trains and have elsewhere discussed train-related terrorism.
Just for anyone keeping track, the website “It’s Going Down” is still allowed to keep their domain. They are not banned from Twitter. They are even allowed to process credit cards through normal avenues.
They are actively supported by one Newsweek blogger who writes a weekly column attacking the Alt-Right, and has alleged that he has played a role in getting AR websites taken down.
Now removed retweet by Arabian affirmative action Newsweek blogger Michael Edison Hayden of a website which openly brags about committing acts of terrorism.
The same blogger threatening to send Antifa to attack (kill?) me personally in a now-deleted Gab post.
Antifa groups have repeatedly targeted Republicans.
The man who tried to assassinate GOP Congressman Steve Scalise was an active supporter of the SPLC, a prominent Jewish Antifa organization.
So we will probably never know what happened with this train crash, given that Antifa has so much institutional support from the government and media apparatus. However, there is certainly reason for suspicion. And I certainly hope that this is investigated.
A truck getting stuck on the tracks is possible, I guess. But it is certainly not something that happens very often.
It seems likely that some form of obstruction could have caused the truck to get stuck.
