Finally, a white pill in this sea of black tar.

RT:

US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson has expressed doubt that the Ukrainian conflict is a point of interest for US taxpayers, his French counterpart Jean-Marc Ayrault has said, Reuters reports.

According to Ayrault, Tillerson openly questioned why American taxpayers should be concerned about the situation in Ukraine. The US official gave his opinion during the G7 foreign ministers’ meeting in Lucca, Italy, on Tuesday.

The obvious answer is because we are the world police.

But I dunno.

The French FM told reporters that his answer to the US top diplomat was: “It is in the interests of the US taxpayers to have a Europe that is secure and is strong politically and economically … You don’t want a weak Europe, broken into bits and feeble.

lol, stupid answer.

Firstly, I don’t even care about that in the abstract.

Secondly, the Ukraine was stable as a Russian vassal state. It was only when America and the EU funded a violent revolution in the country that it became unstable.

Thirdly, the Ukraine isn’t even “Europe” in the sense we’re talking about here. It’s a poverty-ridden post-communist shithole that in fact has a worse economy now than it did when communism collapsed.

Ayrault didn’t specify if Tillerson, who flew to Russia right after the Italian meeting, responded to his comment.

According to Russia’s RIA news agency, when questioned about the exchange, State Department spokesman Mark Toner stated that he had no knowledge of it, and that Washington remained committed to supporting Kiev, and the ongoing peace process.

Yeah, there’s definitely a pattern here of Rex Tillerson saying things which are good and then others in the administration objecting.

That is not a pattern I like.

I mean, all of the policy aside, what kind of a situation is it when the Secretary of State is constantly being publicly denounced by lower-level officials?

I feel bad for Rex over there in Moscow.

He wanted to MAGA. He signed up thinking we were going to MAGA. Now he’s over there trying to explain this insane missile strike that he, by all accounts, had zero input on.
