So this clip is going around, featuring Richard Spencer talking about how child pornography (presumably he is talking about simulated child pornography) can help pedophiles to not molest children. Clearly, the clip above is taken out of context. But that isn’t really the issue. The issue is that he recorded himself saying something that can be so easily taken out of context.
I’m not going to attack him over this. It is what it is. Saying “wow that was a really dumb thing to say” doesn’t help anything here.
Just wanted you all to hear it here first.
After Spencer’s excellent debate with Sargon of Akkad, I was really feeling good about the direction he was going in. But this is certainly going to frustrate a lot of people.
I don’t think this will be some huge deal. People are reacting to it like it’s the end of the world. I doubt it will result in any kind of media backlash… but it might. It’s definitely something that they could run with if they wanted to.

What it appears from the clip is that the argument that he’s making is that pedophilia is a mental disorder that can be treated by allowing them to see some form of child pornography – such as the products of Japanese animation studios. This is actually a mainstream argument put forward by Jewish psychologists, and they allegedly have data to back it up.
He is actually making a more complicated point about the way that pornography stunts the libido – to the point that it can stop pedophiles (see full clip below). But that is… a very complicated point to try to make.
Richard does a bit where he tries to take a nuanced approach to things, and that sometimes works and sometimes does not.
When you start getting into anything about pedophilia or child pornography, a nuanced approach is definitely not the way to go.
So I mean. I don’t really know what to say here. People should I guess encourage Richard, if they can, to take an approach where he is just trying to represent the mainstream of the Alt-Right, rather than give specifically weird, nuanced views on triggering issues.
Overall, I think Richard gets a lot more shit than he deserves, to be honest. He definitely deserves some shit for this, but try to go easy on the guy. This should be a learning experience.
For the record, I support a total outlawing of all forms of pornography and believe that child molesters should be thrown off of rooftops. And I think I speak for virtually everyone in the Alt-Right when I say that.

There is context to this clip that gives a larger picture of what he is saying if you watch the full clip.
He isn’t necessarily endorsing this, he is just discussing the issue of the effects that pornography has in reducing libido, and says that it is so damaging that it can stop the libido of pedophiles.
And he obviously isn’t talking about actual porn involving children, but whatever kind of simulated porn.
Ultimately, the point is that this can and will be taken out of context, but I don’t think we need a meme that Richard Spencer “supports child porn,” and that isn’t what he was actually trying to communicate.
