Rumors of a Syrian Escalation Greatly Exaggerated: Pentagon Wants to Deconflict as Russia Urges Everyone to Just Chill

People keep sending me messages saying I’m not talking enough about Syria.

To be honest, there is a lot to talk about and right now, and Syria is not my top priority.

As far as Donald Trump having the ability to fix this – he doesn’t even have the ability to fix the situation domestically, where his entire Presidency is being undermined by an insane kookspiracy theory invented by diabolical Jews to undermine his Presidency and possibly lead to impeachment.

He has made great strides in that battle, but it’s far from over.

But the idea he doesn’t have the ability to end that witch hunt, but somehow has the ability to end the Syrian conflict, is absolutely nonsensical. This is a war that the CIA was running five years before he even took office.

As far as the revisionist historian and White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer coming out and talking about gas baby memes, or Mattias making provocative statements about whatever – this is a way to fend off the media on that front by maintaining the status quo.

As long as Trump keeps fighting the Jews domestically, and as long as there is no ground invasion in Syria – or any type of serious bombing campaign against major government targets – then whatever is going on in Syria is just a distraction.

Donald Trump’s main enemy is the media, and the media’s main war is the “Trump is a Russian agent” war. Right now, an end to the Syrian conflict would feed that narrative. Once he beats the media, there will be no reason not to finish off ISIS and end this absurd quagmire. Until then – unless the situation changes drastically – don’t worry too much about it.

The reason the initial 4/6 Assad bombing was so relevant is that it coincided with a sea change in domestic policy, as well as a total let-up by the media, including on the entire Russia thing – remember, they went totally silent for 5 weeks. The Comey firing and the Lavrov meeting changed all that.

Anyway, despite Spicer’s goofy Monday statements about gas, nothing is happening in Syria, and Mattias has basically say “oh well, never mind.”

RT:

The US has “a very active deconfliction line” with Russia in order to not “get drawn into a fight” in Syria, US Secretary of Defense James Mattis said.

Mattis touched upon the ongoing operation in Syria at a press briefing on Tuesday. He said that while the US has coordinated with various “converging forces,” it has to maintain high-level interactions with Russia to keep moving against Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL).

“We deconflict with the Russians; it’s a very active deconfliction line,” Mattis said. “It’s on several levels, from the chairman of the Joint Chiefs and the secretary of state with their counterparts in Moscow, General Gerasimov and Minister Lavrov.”

“So we just refuse to get drawn into a fight there in the Syria civil war,” the secretary of defense said, adding that the conflict can be ended “through diplomatic engagement.”

Mattis added that while US forces open fire only on Islamic State enemies, they will fire back “under legitimate self-defense” if somebody “takes a heading on us or fires on us.”

Again – he said all that yesterday, the day after the weird gas statements.

It’s difficult to imagine that this is something other than theater.

Still, the gas attack statements from the White House were exceedingly retarded – purposefully so.

Moscow has responded, but it’s obvious they’re just playing along with the bit.

RT:

Moscow has warned the US against taking unilateral action in Syria, as there is no threat from the Syrian military, Russia’s Foreign Ministry said. The statement comes after the US accused Syria of preparing for a chemical attack, without giving any evidence.

Asked if Russia had warned the US administration against any unilateral action in Syria, Russia’s deputy foreign minister, Gennady Gatilov, replied that Russian officials have “always spoken about that, including in relation to their [US] latest strikes on Syrian armed forces.”

“We believe that it’s unacceptable and breaches Syria’s sovereignty, isn’t caused by any military need, and there is no threat to the US specialists from the Syrian Army. So it’s incendiary, provocative action,” Gatilov said, as cited by RIA Novosti.

On Monday evening, the White House claimed that Syrian President Bashar Assad was preparing a chemical attack and warned that the Syrian government would “pay a heavy price” if the attack was carried out, as cited by AP.

Hours later, the Pentagon said it had detected activity by the Syrian authorities in preparation for the attack. Pentagon spokesman Navy Captain Jeff Davis said that the US had seen “activity” at Shayrat airfield that showed “active preparations for chemical weapons use.”

The US government failed to provide any further details or proof of such claims, while the State Department’s spokesperson, Heather Nauert, said it was “an intelligence matter.”

When confronted by a journalist that Washington uses the phrase to justify anything that suits it, Nauert answered: “I’m not going to get into that one with you, but this is a very serious and great matter.”

On Wednesday, though, the US suggested that the Syrian leadership had swiftly changed its mind about planning an alleged attack. Defense Secretary Jim Mattis, as cited by Reuters, said: “it appears that they [Syria’s authorities] took the warning seriously. They didn’t do it.”

The Syrian government, as well as Russian authorities, have denied any allegations against them, with Russian President Vladimir Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov saying that “such threats to Syria’s legitimate leaders are unacceptable.”

In the latest statement, Deputy Foreign Minister Gatilov said that Russia doesn’t rule out that “there may be provocations” following the announcement from Washington.

The statements by the US administration complicate the [peace] negotiations in Astana and Geneva, and Moscow believes such attempts to boost the tensions around Syria are unacceptable.

“The statements on Syrian armed forces getting ready to use chemical weapons is complete nonsense… These assumptions aren’t based on anything, no one provides any facts,” the Russian diplomat said.

“If the aim is to ramp up the spiral of tension, we think it’s unacceptable. It complicates the process of negotiations undertaken in Astana and Geneva,” Gatilov underlined.

“We’ve seen this in the past. Of course there are many ill-wishers, who want to undermine the process [of negotiations]. So any provocations are possible,” the deputy foreign minister added.

But you can see how maintaining this tension with Russia in Syria helps Trump domestically, right?

I’m not even talking about any kind of major chess boardism here.

Just basically: coming out with “OH ASSAD IS PLANNING A GAS ATTACK BAD NEWS” and then saying the next day, “OH WELL ACTUALLY HE CHANGED HIS MIND OKAY NM” and having Russia grumble over it makes sense. Given the current state of things, it makes a lot more sense than say, totally pulling out forces that have been in Syria for 5 years and letting Russia finish the war.

Pulling out now would cause a massive backlash, pouring gasoline on this “Russian agent” fire that Trump has virtually extinguished by crucifying James Comey and delegitimatizing the media.

That is priority number one.

Again: Maintaining the status quo in Syria is not that big of a deal right now. It’s something that can be dealt with later. People getting hysterical about this don’t understand the dynamic that exists, or the current trajectory of Spaceship Trump.

I am Not Going to Shill for Trump if I Don’t Think He Deserves to be Shilled For

You saw after 4/6, before the Comey firing – during that five week period – I was extremely negative towards Trump.

I am always going to tell you what I believe to be true, with as much emotional detachment as I’m humanly capable of.

Capable of pretty high levels of emotional detachment, tbh.

And right now, I’m telling you straight-up, I’m not concerned about Syria, and I believe Trump is doing right by us.

I might be wrong, of course. I could always be wrong.

Just compare what I’m saying to what the hysterical “TRUMP IS GOING TO SCREW US HE’S INVADING SYRIA IT’S ALL HAPPENING NOW” people are saying, and see which argument you think makes more sense.

Ultimately, we’re all just going to have to wait and see. But my prediction is that Trump is going to bury the entire Russian Wikileaks kookspiracy along with the conspirators in the intelligence agencies, the Democrat party and the media that planned it, and then he’s going to finish off ISIS in Syria, negotiate a deal that allows the Syrian government to remain in power but with Assad stepping down (he’s already said he’ll step down when the war’s over anyway), and reinstate proper real relations with Russia.

At least, it is clear to me that this is his plan.

I don’t know if he’ll pull it off or not.
