Russian generals led their troops to three bases in the region Sunday, demanding Ukrainian forces surrender and hand over their weapons, Vladislav Seleznyov, spokesman for the Crimean Media Center of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry, told CNN.
By late Sunday, Russian forces had “complete operational control of the Crimean Peninsula,” a senior U.S. administration official said. The United States estimates there are 6,000 Russian ground and naval forces in the region, the official said.
“There is no question that they are in an occupation position — flying in reinforcements and settling in,” another senior administration official said.
Speaking by phone, Seleznyov said Russian troops had blocked access to bases but added, “There is no open confrontation between Russian and Ukrainian military forces in Crimea”
Yeah, there is no open confrontation, because the Ukrainian forces defected.
Actually, it is a bit odd to call it “defection.” It is almost though if they had not joined Russia, that would have been the defection.
Ukraine’s autonomous region of Crimea confirmed Sunday that the majority of Ukrainian military units stationed on the Crimean peninsula have expressed their support of legitimately elected Pro-Russian authorities.
Earlier reports by Russian media about peaceful takeover of the military units by forces loyal to the Crimean government were denied by the Ukrainian defense ministry.
However, Crimean authorities said that most of the Ukrainian units sided on Sunday with pro-Russian forces “without a single shot fired.”
Even with the mounting evidence that no one save a radical minority supports the new Revolutionary “government,” made-up of Western-backed terrorists and IDF agents, the US has had no shame in continuing the threatening war rhetoric against Putin.
“Create a democratic noose around Putin’s Russia,” urged Senator Lindsey Graham, Republican of South Carolina. “Revisit the missile defense shield,” suggested Senator Marco Rubio, Republican of Florida. “Cancel Sochi,” argued Representative Mike Rogers, the Michigan Republican who leads the Intelligence Committee, referring to the Group of 8 summit meeting to be hosted by President Vladimir V. Putin. Kick “him out of the G-8” altogether, said Senator Richard J. Durbin of Illinois, the Democratic whip.
The bi-partisan hate-lobby did not bother to explain why it is that they feel this is any of their business. The answer, if they were to give it honestly, would of course be “we paid good money for that violent revolution, we’re not gonna have it taken away from us! Do you know what our Jewish masters will do to us if we screw this one up like we did Syria???”
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov discussed Ukraine by telephone with his Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi, on Monday, and claimed they had “broadly coinciding points of view” on the situation there, according to a ministry statement.
Speaking at the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, he said Russian troops were necessary in Ukraine “until the normalisation of the political situation”.
He added: “We call for a responsible approach, to put aside geopolitical calculations, and above all to put the interests of the Ukrainian people first.”
The rest of the Jew8 countries have of course condemned Putin’s humanitarian liberation of Crimea because “blah blah blah something something democracy,” but what difference does it make when you’ve got China backing you?
It is all shaping up very nicely, I think. The West is going to have to back off. They don’t have any leverage, and if they try to back a war by training and funding the Ukrainian terrorists, they are going to be crushed by Russia’s vastly superior military.
Their only other opinion is a full-scale NATO invasion of the Ukraine.
But they’re not crazy enough to do that… are they?
