#FromTheSouth News Bits: September 15 marked two weeks since the social media platform X was banned in Brazil. This social network left the country with a debt of 18 million reales. From Brasilia, our correspondent @BrianMteleSUR has the details. pic.twitter.com/EiFRnMpusY

The White House supported the TikTok ban, so complaining about anyone else banning social media is obviously unhinged and retarded.
What’s more: they constantly call for Twitter to be shut down because it is so full of hatred, but then say Brazil should have it. This is because even while they demand Twitter do more censorship of Americans, they also want to be able to use Twitter to push their social engineering agendas in foreign countries, and Elon has never tried to stop them from doing that.
The United States is totally ridiculous, being objectively the least free country in the world (excluding some extreme outlier like North Korea) and then going around claiming no country in the world is free enough, and demanding a right to socially engineer these countries.
The White House issued a rare rebuke of Brazil Tuesday for banning the country’s residents from accessing X in a free-speech struggle with the platform’s billionaire owner Elon Musk.
“When it comes to social media, we have been very clear that we think that folks should have access to social media. It’s a form of freedom of speech,” White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said in response to a press-briefing question from reporter Raquel Krähenbühl of Brazil’s TV Globo.
Brazil blocked the country’s more than 200 million residents from using X on Aug. 30 after Alexandre de Moraes, a powerful member of the country’s supreme court, demanded the censorship of a large number of accounts featuring alleged hate speech or misinformation.
Musk refused, describing the diktat as anti-democratic and calling the judge a repressive “dictator” and “Brazil’s Darth Vader.”
Jean-Pierre urged unrestricted access to social media despite President Biden signing bipartisan legislation requiring the sale or closure of Chinese-owned social network TikTok by January 19, the last full day of Biden’s term.
Yeah, despite that. Despite that.
It’s absurd.
I would have more respect for American politicians if they dressed like that Brazilian judge and said “we will strip you of everything you hold dear, then we will suck the blood out of you, one drop at a time!”
This whole “we’re the freedom people” gibberish is sickening.
Brazil’s ban on @elonmusk‘s @X is an attack on free speech. Yet, Joe Biden & Kamala Harris sit idly by as a supposed American ally unfairly punishes an American company.
I sent a letter to the @StateDept asking what it’s doing to fight this brazen act of censorship. pic.twitter.com/DGa9tBjaQk
