So there’s talk of prosecuting the Saudis for 9/11. Obviously, 15 of the 19 hijackers were Saudis, so this all should have taken place 15 years ago. In fact, it would have made a lot more sense to invade Saudi Arabia at the time than Afghanistan (let alone Iraq).
Anyway, the Saudis are freaking out. Which is pretty telling, no?
Saudi Arabia has told the Obama administration and members of Congress that it will sell off hundreds of billions of dollars’ worth of American assets held by the kingdom if Congress passes a bill that would allow the Saudi government to be held responsible in American courts for any role in the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.
The Obama administration has lobbied Congress to block the bill’s passage, according to administration officials and congressional aides from both parties, and the Saudi threats have been the subject of intense discussions in recent weeks between lawmakers and officials from the State Department and the Pentagon. The officials have warned senators of diplomatic and economic fallout from the legislation.
Adel al-Jubeir, the Saudi foreign minister, delivered the kingdom’s message personally last month during a trip to Washington, telling lawmakers that Saudi Arabia would be forced to sell up to $750 billion in treasury securities and other assets in the United States before they could be in danger of being frozen by American courts.
Several outside economists are skeptical that the Saudis will follow through, saying that such a sell-off would be difficult to execute and would end up crippling the kingdom’s economy. But the threat is another sign of the escalating tensions between Saudi Arabia and the United States.
The 9/11 commission report blacked-out 28 pages which have to do with foreign financing of the attacks. It is just common knowledge that the pages implement the Saudis, and that they were redacted because the terrorist state of Saudi Arabia – also the lead backer of ISIS – is our second greatest ally.
Though I was once a true-believer, I have over the last few years had a very difficult time accepting some of the more extreme conspiracy theories about 9/11. I don’t believe the planes were flown by remote control. I do believe there were hijackers on the planes, and I do believe the government of Saudi Arabia was involved.
However, it is also impossible that the intelligence agencies of the US and Israel didn’t know about it in advance. It is also extremely likely – probable, in fact – that Israel was involved in the planning of the attacks. If we uncover the Saudi role in the attacks, we will be one-step closer to uncovering the Jewish role in this event.
